Schema Markup
Structured data added to a webpage that helps search engines understand its content.
Schema Markup (Schema.org) is structured data added to a webpage's HTML that tells search engines what the page is about — product details, business info, recipe steps, FAQ pairs, article metadata, etc. Properly implemented schema can earn rich results in search (star ratings, prices, FAQ expansions) that dramatically increase click-through rates.
Common schema types: LocalBusiness, Product, Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Review, Recipe, Event, Course, JobPosting.
A recipe site adds Recipe schema. Search results now show star rating, cook time, and an image preview directly in the SERP. CTR triples.
