Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS)

Cloud computing service that provides virtualized computing resources over the internet.

Infrastructure as a Service provides on-demand access to virtualized computing resources — virtual machines, storage, networking — that customers manage themselves. AWS EC2, Azure VMs, and Google Compute Engine are flagship examples.

Example

A company runs their custom application on AWS EC2 instances (IaaS) — they get the servers, networking, and storage but manage the OS, security patches, and application stack themselves.
