Content Management System(CMS)

Software that lets non-developers create, edit, and manage website content.

A Content Management System is software that lets non-developers create and update website content without touching code. Traditional CMS: WordPress, Drupal, Joomla. Headless CMS (modern): Sanity, Contentful, Strapi — separate content storage from presentation layer.

Headless CMS pairs well with modern frontend frameworks (Next.js, Astro) — content editors manage content in a friendly interface; developers build any frontend on top.

Example

A marketing team uses Sanity (headless CMS) to manage blog posts. Developers build the website with Next.js. Editors publish without involving developers; developers optimize the frontend without disrupting content workflow.
