SMART Goals

A goal-setting framework: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound.

SMART Goals is a goal-setting framework popularized in the 1980s: Specific (clear what's being pursued), Measurable (quantifiable success criteria), Achievable (realistic given resources), Relevant (aligned with broader objectives), Time-bound (specific deadline). SMART helps avoid vague aspirational goals that can't be evaluated.

Example

Vague: 'Improve our marketing.' SMART: 'Increase organic traffic to product pages from 5,000 to 12,000 monthly visitors by end of Q3 through SEO-optimized landing pages.'
